Dropping of Students at Unity College

I have had a communication from a concerned resident regarding the amount of traffic congestion around Unity College when parents are dropping students off. In particular the amount of double parking. In the interest of child safety is this a problem? Do we need a school crossing?

Since the original post I have been informed that Police have patrolled the College at drop off times and have in fact booked vehicles for parking in the restricted yellow zones. Please take care when dropping off students. Take your time

  1. Yes we need a School Crossing but we also need some action from the school to alert their parents to the problem. Unity College needs to have something in their Newsletter regarding the hazards of dropping children off at the school.

Then if this is not successful we need to SCRC Local Laws to step in deal with illegal parking etc.

Think how this problem will be if there is no action and the new shopping complex is built, the problem will only get worse.

  2. Yes, the responsibility is on the parents though, because they will cry fowl if their darling little one is injured one day because a child runs out from behind an illegally parked car or worst still. The yellow lines on the road mean NO PARKING!!!! They are their to help the vision of others on the road when entering and exiting the school grounds.

How about parents take control of their actions and leave to drop off the kids sooner, walk them from a legal car parking space and walk them to the gate or across the road until a crossing is provided. And last of all, BLOODY SLOW DOWN during kiddie hours please. We all need to obey road rules, they are their for a reason.

Surely the life of a child is better then being late for work. Get up earlier.
